Thirty business counselors from the DTI Provincial and Regional Offices completed the five day Small Business Counselors Course (SBCC) on Operations Management (SBCC 104) on April 22-26 at the Regional Negosyo Center Conference Hall in Tuguegarao City.

The course is the fourth of a six part ladderized training program specifically designed for DTI business counselors most of whom are assigned to the various Negosyo Centers established by the Department of Trade and Industry.  The other courses under the SBCC training program include Business Diagnostics (SBCC 101); Business Environment (SBCC 102); Strategic Marketing (SBCC 103); Financial Management (SBCC 105); and, Investment Promotion (SBCC 106).

SBCC 104 covers an extensive variety of topics which include Production Operations, Production Planning and Control, Materials Management and Inventory, Plant Location and Layout, Ergonomics, Value Analysis, Cost Reduction and Productivity Improvement.  Mr. Kishorelal Jethmal the principal resource person from Trust Management Centre also dwelt on the timely topics such as Emerging Technologies for Global Competitiveness, Total Quality Management and Better Business Environment.

One of the main outputs of the course is the presentation of an in-plant report incorporating their learnings from the course and based on their plant visit to DTI assisted business establishments in Cagayan.  The SBCC 104 participants visited the Ayah Enterprises which makes “yema” candies and the Integrated Farmers Cooperative, producers of Carabao Milk Candy and Fresh Carabao Milk.

To date sixty-four business counselors have completed SBCC 104 since 2017.♦
