DTI 4-A helps Laguna MSMEs Strengthen Innovation and Resilience

The Department of Trade and Industry Region 4-A and DTI Laguna took part in the 2nd Laguna Stakeholders’ Business Forum with the theme, “Navigating the Future: Business Innovation and Resilience in Laguna,” at the Provincial Capitol Extension Office, Brgy. Halang, Calamba City, Laguna, on August 20, 2024.

The forum commenced with a warm welcome from Laguna 2nd District Representative Ruth M. Hernandez, emphasizing on unity and progress in the province. Laguna Governor Ramil L. Hernandez followed with an inspirational message, highlighting the importance of resilience and innovation as key drivers of economic growth.

DTI 4-A OIC-Assistant Regional Director Revelyn A. Cortez addressed the attendees by reinforcing the Department’s commitment in supporting local businesses through strategic initiatives.

Key presentations during the forum were delivered by the following renowned experts, each shedding light on critical areas essential for the sustainable growth of Laguna’s business community. Mr. Rene S. Meily, President of the Philippine Disaster Resilient Foundation, spoke on “Strategies for Ensuring Resilience in Business and Industry,” emphasizing the need for robust disaster preparedness and response mechanisms. Dr. Aser B. Javier, an Independent Governance Consultant, discussed “Business CARE (Creation, Attraction, Retention, and Expansion) and the Local Governments,” offering insights into how local governments can play a pivotal role in nurturing a thriving business environment. Furthermore, Mr. Ronilo Balbieran from the Research, Education, and Institutional Development (REID) Foundation Inc. presented on “Emerging Business Trends and Innovations,” highlighting cutting-edge trends that Laguna businesses can leverage to stay competitive in the global market.

Meanwhile, DTI Competitiveness and Innovation Group Assistant Secretary Leonila T. Baluyut concluded the presentations with a compelling discussion on “Driving Innovation and Growth through the Tatak Pinoy Act,” focusing on how the act can propel local businesses toward greater innovation and global competitiveness.

The event also celebrated the achievements of outstanding companies in the region, presenting Certificates of Recognition. These awards underscored the commitment of Laguna’s business community to excellence and innovation.

The forum concluded with closing remarks from Atty. Rose Lynn Zara-Coloma, President of the Laguna Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who praised the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders in navigating the future of Laguna’s business sector.
