02132025_DTI-Laguna, CLDD Conduct Seminar on Setting Up a Business and Business Plan Preparation

Calamba City, Laguna — The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna), in cooperation with Calamba City Cooperatives and Livelihood Development (CLDD), conducted a seminar entitled “How to Start a Business and Business Plan Preparation”, which aimed to equip participants with additional essential skills and knowledge, on February 5, 2025. This was attended by 15 participants comprising existing and aspiring entrepreneurs around the municipality of Calamba.

The program was hosted by Ms. Angelica Fae Rodriguez of CLDD. The first topic of the program was Setting Up a Business, which was discussed by Ms. Alma Arenal, Negosyo Center Business Counselor in Calamba City. She discussed various examples on what kind of business a person can engage in and what necessary things an entrepreneur must consider before putting up a business. This gave the participants insights into what they must do once they got into the business world. Arenal continued the discussion with the topic Consumer Education, providing knowledge to the participants on their rights and responsibilities not only as an entrepreneur but also as a consumer. The participants also showed interest in the topic by asking numerous questions about the discussion like what they must do when the complaint arrives and what if they will be the ones filing it.

Mr. Syruz Reyes, Negosyo Center Business Counselor in Cabuyao City, discussed the topic Business Plan Preparation. He discussed examples of step-by-step procedures on how an individual must do when he or she decides to do business. He also provided an activity for the participants to fiddle with their minds on what business they want to do or add in the future, which the participants actively participated in.

In addition, Rodriguez shared the upcoming programs and services that their department will implement and, with that, she ended the program with grace.

The program concluded with positive feedback from attendees, who expressed their satisfaction through the Client Satisfaction Form. The program was highly praised by trainees and graduates, who appreciated the relevant and actionable information provided. The enthusiasm for the session was evident, with many participants expressing a strong interest in future business engagement. They specifically requested speakers for the remaining quarters of the year, highlighting the growing need for comprehensive business education and support from DTI-Laguna.
