VICTORIA, LAGUNA – The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna), through its Consumer Protection Division, carried out onsite Product Standard Monitoring in Santa Cruz, Laguna, on September 19, 2024.

The previously mentioned procedure is part of ensuring that products and services consistently comply with technical rules and particular standard requirements in order to safeguard the public from unjustified risks of damage connected with consumer items.

A total of five (5) enterprises offering consumer electronics, lighting and electrical devices, steel goods, plastic pipes and ceramics, cement and other building materials, chemical products, automotive-related items, and other consumer products were visited and inspected on the said date.

The inspection team conducted a face-to-face discussion with the store manager, supervisor, and/or establishment representative, as well as inspection of the product’s expiration date and evaluation of the brand and product quality. The team also documented the process, and a list of items included in the monitoring form was properly checked and filled out for future reference. In addition, the establishments being watched were provided with re-briefing on the Philippine Consumer Act and other fair-trade rules. They were also given brief orientation-reminder on the Product Standard compliance.
