The three (3) SREs engaged in air-conditioning and refrigeration were visited for on-the-spot evaluation and assessment. Owners, supervisors, and/or technicians were interviewed as part of compliance checking. They were also briefly oriented about PD 1572 and its importance to help them recall the process and requirements.

This regular monitoring activity is in line with the Presidential Decree No. 1572 (PD 1572), Series of 1978, which mandates the DTI to regulate and control the operation of SREs for motor vehicles, heavy equipment and engines, and engineering works; electronics, electrical, air-conditioning, and refrigeration; office equipment; medical and dental equipment; and other consumer mechanical and industrial equipment, appliances, or devices, including technicians.

In accordance with the PD 1572, DTI-Laguna continuously reminds SREs that their shops, as well as their technical personnel, are required to be accredited first by the DTI before their operations.
