VICTORIA, LAGUNA – The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna), through its Consumer Protection Division (CPD), conducted an onsite inspection and routine monitoring of service and repair enterprises (SREs) in Santa Cruz, Laguna, on February 11, 2025, for accreditation renewal.

Three (3) SREs engaged in the repair of motorcycle vehicles, refrigeration units, and air-conditioning units were evaluated and assessed, with in-person interviews conducted with the SRE Representatives to ensure compliance. They were also given a brief overview of the Presidential Decree No. 1572 (PD 1572), Series of 1978, highlighting its importance for understanding the required processes.

This regular monitoring activity is in line with the PD 1572 which mandates the DTI to regulate and control the operation of SREs for motor vehicles, heavy equipment and engines, and engineering works; electronics, electrical, air-conditioning, and refrigeration; office equipment; medical and dental equipment; and other consumer mechanical and industrial equipment, appliances, or devices, including technicians.

In accordance with the PD 1572, DTI-Laguna continuously reminds SREs that their shops, as well as their technical personnel, are required to be accredited first by the DTI before their operations.

SREs located in Laguna may apply at the DTI-Laguna, located in Brgy. Banca-Banca, Victoria, Laguna. For inquiries, applicants may contact the Consumer Protection Division through r04a.laguna@dti.gov.ph (ALSLinga, DTI-Laguna | Photo by ZAGavino, DTI-Laguna). ♦
