Victoria, Laguna – The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna), through its Consumer Protection Division, regularly monitors the price and supply of basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs) in the key cities of Laguna.
On February 20, 2024, DTI-Laguna monitored one (1) supermarket in San Pedro City and two (2) supermarkets in the City of Santa Rosa. Based on the monitoring results, the three (3) establishments were found to be compliant with the suggested retail prices (SRPs). It was also observed that BNPC supplies remain stable.
Under the Republic Act No. 7394 (RA 7394) or the Consumer Act of the Philippines, establishments are required to put appropriate price tag, label, or marking on all consumer products and must be prominently displayed. If the products are too small and it would be impractical to put a price tag per item, a price list may be posted near the products displayed.
To ensure consumer protection in the province, DTI-Laguna regularly conducts price and supply monitoring of BNPCs on a weekly basis. Store supervisors and staff are also reminded about the Price Tag Requirement pursuant to the Article 81 of RA 7394 (ALSLinga, DTI-Laguna). ♦
