The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) through Negosyo Center Mabitac successfully joined in the Sari-Sari Store Advancement Program tackling Module 4: Tindahan Mo, e-Level Up Mo. This impactful webinar is part of a comprehensive program aimed at empowering sari-sari store owners through digital transformation, financial literacy, sustainable practices, and consumer protection.
The program’s launch gathered 30 sari-sari store owners and microentrepreneurs from various parts of Mabitac. This was hosted by the Negosyo Center in Mabitac. The event was able to equip these local business owners with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in today’s competitive market, reflecting the DTI’s dedication to driving economic growth and supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises in the municipality.
Mr. Alan Quintos, General Analyst at SmartSari, served as a keynote speaker wherein he outlined the business opportunities available to sari-sari store owners through SmartSari’s services. These services include e-load, game credits, e-bills, cash in, cable TV, and money transfer. He emphasized that their “Virtual Product” offers significant benefits with minimal risk.
Mr. Jerome Jalandoni, Distributor Sales Manager at Universal Robina, on the other hand shared that popular apps such as Lazada, Shopee, and Tiktok Shop are official partners for purchasing their products online, offering business owners convenience, discounts, free shipping, and vouchers, helping streamline operations.
Mr. Jolo Tugade, Sari-Sari Channel Executive at Nestlé, also stressed the importance of having “Golden Paninda” or high-demand items. He recommended keeping ample stock of bestsellers for maximum return on investment. For food and beverages, this includes items like vices, alcoholic drinks, instant noodles, snacks, candies, biscuits, and powdered juice, while non-food essentials include personal care and laundry products.
Ms. Mae Kimberly Alegado, Digital Trade Marketing Lead at Unilever, further highlighted the advantages of online ordering, such as the ability to order anytime and anywhere with ease, without needing to leave home. She noted that it is budget-friendly; offers a clear view of capital, revenue, and profit; and includes well-displayed products along with exclusive discounts.
Lastly, Ms. Vivien Alarcado, Consumer Protection and Advocacy Bureau Supervising Trade-Industry Development Specialist, explained the requirements for becoming a DTI-compliant sari-sari store, emphasizing the importance of adhering to government regulations for legitimate trade. The seminar’s interactive format encouraged active participation, with attendees asking questions and sharing experiences. This exchange of ideas and best practices contributed to a productive event. In conclusion, the “Tindahan Mo, e-Level Up Mo” program represents a vital initiative aimed at empowering sari-sari store owners by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and tools for success. The DTI-Laguna Provincial Office, through its Negosyo Center Mabitac, is committed to organizing similar events in the future to further support local entrepreneurs (BCCapuno, DTI-Laguna). ♦
