082224_DTI-Laguna Safeguards Consumers in Bay and Cities of Calamba, Biñan, and Santa Rosa

Victoria, Laguna — On July 4 and 11, 2024, the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) conducted an onsite inspection and monitoring of private emission testing centers (PETCs) in Bay, Calamba City, Biñan City, and Santa Rosa City, Laguna. This is in accordance with the Department Administrative Order No. 3, Series of 2002 (DAO 3:2002). Four (4) PETCs went through monitoring and inspection conducted by the DTI-Laguna Consumer Protection Division. This was done in order to guarantee ongoing adherence to legal requirements.

One of the DTI’s mandates in implementing PETC accreditation standards and procedures is to conduct onsite inspections and monitoring of car and motor vehicle PETCs. This process also includes inspecting their necessary tools, equipment, facilities, expertise, and quality service; conducting an interview with their qualified motor vehicle emission center technicians; and testing the equipment.

As part of its regular operations, DTI-Laguna will inspect and monitor vehicle PETCs at least once a month throughout Laguna Province in 2024. This effort seeks to protect consumers’ interests when using PETC services (VDAlvarez, DTI-Laguna). ♦
