Liliw, Laguna — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Laguna Provincial Office, in collaboration with DTI Ilocos Norte and the Local Government Units of Vintar in Ilocos Norte and of Liliw in Laguna, successfully conducted a benchmarking activity focused on “Technology Development Support for the Footwear Industry” on February 26, 2025.

The activity aimed to provide insights regarding the various types of footwear that can be produced and the methods for making different shoes and slippers.

Nine (9) micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from the Siwawer Local Council for Women and Dream Weavers of Vintar, Ilocos Norte, participated in the said visit. These MSMEs were able to observe the production processes of several footwear MSMEs in Liliw, Laguna, including Leigh Ann Footwear, Monedo’s Footwear, Grinter Footwear, Jhaz Footwear, and Ai-She Fashion. This hands-on experience allowed the participants to learn firsthand about the production techniques and innovations driving the local footwear industry.

The group was joined by Vintar Municipal Mayor Richard A. Degala and Liliw Municipal Mayor Ildefonso D. Monleon. Together, they explored various footwear businesses in Liliw, gaining exposure to different production methods and innovations that could potentially be applied in Ilocos Norte. DTI Ilocos Norte Provincial Director Amelia E. Galvez also participated, offering her full support to the MSMEs from Vintar and ensuring that they have the resources and guidance needed to succeed in the footwear industry.

This benchmarking activity provided valuable insights to the MSMEs from Ilocos Norte, sparking ideas for potential new business ventures. It also offered an opportunity to highlight Liliw, Laguna’s expertise in footwear production.
