The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Quezon conducted the Assessment, Consultation, and Triage (A.C.T.) for Food MSMEs last May 30-31, 2023, as part of the implementation of the OTOP Philippines Program.

The ACT Session is the first step of the program, wherein a team of experts gives a diagnostic evaluation of the various products in order to determine the assistance or intervention needed. It was followed by one-on-one consultations with the experts, who provided their recommendations and inputs for the improvement of packaging and labeling for OTOP NG MSMEs. An individualized MSME Strategy and Action Plan, which contains the deliverables, action items, assignments, timelines, task owners, and resource allocation, was also identified.

For the two-day activity, fifteen (15) identified ONG MSMEs along with the key decision makers were able to gain basic information on product standardization with the help of the commissioned food expert, Engr. Menadro B. Ortego. He also provided assessments and recommendations for the improvement of products in terms of proper production processes. Artministree Advertising Agency provided brand and marketing insights, prototype directions, and product development instructions. This activity is the foundation for the creation of new label and packaging designs to be provided under the product development assistance of the OTOP Next Gen Program.
