On 17 May 2021, the DTI-Quezon Shared Service Facilities (SSF) Team consisted of SSF Provincial Coordinator Ma. Graciela C. Ledesma, SSF Support Staff Dara Jannes C. Obmerga and Negosyo Center-Sariaya Business Counselor (BC) Shayne B. Nocus travelled to Sariaya, Quezon to monitor the SSF that were established in the said municipality.
The first destination was KoopNaman MPC. They visited the SSF processing center with the marketing and research manager, Christopher De Castro. DTI-Quezon SSF Team conducted monitoring on 5S, greening practices monitoring, and health and safety protocols.
During the monitoring proper, SSF Provincial Coordinator Ledesma initially checked the facility machines and equipment based on the 5S audit checklist which is sorting, setting in order, shining, standardizing and sustaining. It was followed by monitoring of the COVID-19 health and safety Protocols by BC Nocus. Lastly, the greening practices monitoring was done by SSF Support Staff Obmerga.
During this activity, manager De Castro properly answered the questions and toured the DTI-Quezon SSF Team around the facility to see if the 5S, COVID-19 health and safety protocols, and greening practices were being implemented.
Also, during the physical monitoring, KoopNaman MPC was also conducting a skills training for meat processing to seven (7) participants/potential entrepreneurs using SSF machines and equipment. They were learning to make Lucban longganisa and skinless longganisa. This activity is a regular undertaking of KoopNaman MPC as their corporate social responsibility to the community.
After visiting KoopNaman MPC, the DTI-QuezonSSF team headed to Kalahi MPC which has two (2) SSFs established in the municipality located in Brgy. F. Gibanga, Sariaya, Quezon, the SSF for buri processing and additional equipment for buri processing.
They also monitored the 5S, greening practices, and health and safety protocols implementation of Kalahi MPC. They interviewed Susan Caballes, the chairperson of the cooperative.
She updated the team that they have already distributed the sewing machines to their members in order to provide job opportunities for them during the pandemic. As of now, the SSF Phase 1 is non-operating due to the laser cutting machine’s condition which is for repair. The SSF Phase 2 is partially operating.♦
