DTI reaffirms support for the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program in San Pedro, Laguna, promoting affordable, high-quality produce from local farmers and MSMEs through a collaborative effort with various government agencies.
Laguna, Philippines—The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) reaffirmed its commitment to the government’s flagship farm-to-consumer program, Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP), held in San Pedro City last February 15, 2025.
The KNP is a collaborative effort between the DTI, the local government of San Pedro, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Department of Labor and Employment, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
Nikki Rose Mercado Repol, Business Counselor from the DTI Laguna office, represented the agency in the event. She emphasized that the Kadiwa program aims to provide Filipino consumers with access to affordable, high-quality produce from local farmers, as well as manufactured products.
This aligns with the DTI’s commitment to supporting the government’s efforts to stabilize the prices of essential goods. It also bolsters micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by connecting them with manufacturers, cooperatives, fishermen, and other sectors in the agricultural industry.
Twenty government-assisted local businesses from the CALABARZON region participated in the Kadiwa caravan, offering food and non-food products. In addition to making agricultural commodities more accessible, the participating agencies worked with food manufacturers to ensure the availability of goods like cooking oil, fresh fish, and poultry products, among others.
From agricultural and fishery commodities to local-made and ready-to-eat goods, the Kadiwa event provided San Pedro residents with an opportunity to purchase affordable and high-quality basic necessities and prime commodities.
Participating enterprises supported by the DTI included Puregold Price Club Incorporated, Green Ribbon Food Manufacturing, and Jingays Gourmet. Partner agencies also collaborated with the country’s farmers’ cooperatives and associations, such as Majayjay Organic Farmers Association, Valentin Integrated Farm, General Trias Dairy Raisers Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Cafe Amadeo Development Cooperative, Batangas City Rural Improvement Club Marketing Cooperative, and San Pedro Agri-Workers Network.
Furthermore, the Samahan Ng Kababaihan Ng Laguna-Maryland Chapter and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology showcased handmade crafts and products created by their members.
The DTI Laguna’s office reiterated its commitment to continued collaboration with different government agencies to strengthen the Kadiwa program. The agency encourages the public to support Kadiwa. This assists local farmers, fisherfolks, and MSMEs in promoting their products, reaching wider markets, and generating higher income. It does so by eliminating intermediaries and directly offering products to consumers. ♦
