The Local Government of Binangonan, with the partnership of Philippine Bamboo Foundation, Inc., kicks off the Talim Island Bamboo Livelihood Project through a seminar-workshop held at the Municipal Hall Annex in Brgy. Gulod, Binangonan, Rizal on February 10, 2024. Sixty participants from the selected island barangays of the municipality (Brgy. Buhangin, Brgy. Gulod, Brgy. Sapang, Brgy. Janosa, and Barangay Malakaban) benefited from the program, which focuses on bamboo as a sustainable industry and its climate change mitigation.
The event was graced by Hon. Jesus Añis who represented Hon. Mayor Engr. Cesar Ynares, Atty. Jorge Gusilatar represented Cong. Michael John Duavit, Engr. Aldrin Albos represented Gov. Nini Ricci Ynares and Arch. Maria Carmen Yatco represented United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) National President Richard Garcia. Each gave a message and expressed excitement to the project and its outcome.
Also present were the officials, heads and staff of different departments from the local government unit of Binangonan, local and national agencies like the Rizal provincial offices of DOST and DTI through Negosyo Center Binangonan.
Mr. Edgardo Manda of PBFI shared his knowledge and expertise by discussing the roles and significance of the bamboo industry that will highly contribute not only on the island barangays but also to the whole town in terms of economic development, environmental health and tourism. Planning and scheduling of the actual trainings were also done after.
MENRO Head Engr. Isidro Pacis Jr. ended the program with a message of gratitude to the project partners from different agencies and offices and the participants for their continuous support and cooperation. ♦
