Philippine Bamboo Foundation Inc., headed by Mr. Edgardo Manda, with the support of the local government unit of Binangonan, led the three-day bamboo production workshop on April 3, 2024, at Brgy. Gulod, Binangonan, Rizal, as part of the Talim Island Bamboo Project initiated by Congressman Jack Duavit. Forty residents from the island barangays of Binangonan and Cardona, Rizal, benefited from the workshop.
The activity was supported by the project partners from different LGU departments and offices, barangay officials, and local and national agencies, such as TESDA Rizal and DTI Rizal, through Negosyo Center Binangonan.
PBFI training officers Mr. Michael Gomez, Mr. James Sevilla, and Mr. Armando Palijon facilitated the workshop, which commenced with a lecture on the sustainability of the bamboo industry, highlighting its economic and environmental benefits in the community. Participants also gained knowledge of various bamboo species and the processes and tools required for proper bamboo cultivation, planting, and harvesting.
Applying all the learning from the lecture sessions, participants, under the guidance of the PBFI training officers, underwent hands-on training in proper bamboo planting on the subsequent two days of the workshop. ♦
