TAYABAS, QUEZON — On June 13, 2023, the Tayabas City Price Coordinating Council (CPCC) Joint Task Force conducted its regular price monitoring inspection across various establishments, including grocery stores and the public market. The monitoring team is comprised of representatives from the Office of the City Agriculturist, the Office of the City Public Market Administrator, and Negosyo Center–Tayabas City. The objective was to ensure fair pricing and safeguard the rights of consumers.

During the inspection, the team focused on specific stores listed in the previous monitoring list, comparing the prices against the suggested retail prices (SRP) set by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on February 8, 2023.

Based on the team’s report, the prices of pork and chicken in the public market remained unchanged compared to the previous month. However, the prices of beef were observed to have increased. Additionally, the prices of sardines and canned goods remained the same.

In order to promote compliance with the DTI’s SRP and prevent unjustified price increases that could adversely affect consumers, the monitoring team took proactive measures. They posted the results of their findings on the Price Watch and displayed public notices about price watches on agricultural products on the bulletin board of the Tayabas City Public Market. This step aimed to ensure that businesses were adhering to the DTI’s SRP guidelines.

The CPCC Chair, who is also the City Mayor, will review the report and make recommendations based on the findings. Through this proactive approach to regulating prices, Tayabas City demonstrates its commitment to protecting the rights and interests of consumers, striving to maintain fair pricing practices within the community.
