GUMACA, QUEZON — Araña’t Baluarte Festival is an annual festival in honor of the town’s patron saint, San Isidro Labrador, held in Gumaca, Quezon. Every May, the celebration involves various cultural and religious activities. Gumaca’s streets come alive with brilliant colors, music, and dance during the festival. Visitors can savor traditional Filipino cuisine and treats while participating in various activities and competitions. Exhibits and displays reflect the town’s extensive cultural past, including traditional textiles and crafts.

Accordingly, the DTI-Quezon was invited to take part as a member of the Panel of Judges for the said annual festivity. On May 15, 2023, Ms. Jaryz Eden Lloce, Trade and Industry Development Specialist (TIDS), witnessed the seventeen (17) beautiful Araña’t Baluartes. Ms. Lloce was also determined to immerse herself in the traditions, customs, and artistic expressions of the municipality. This gave her the opportunity to evaluate the Araña’t Baluartes fairly.

The Araña’t Baluarte has been passed down through generations as a symbol of the importance of preserving the region’s rich cultural heritage for present and future generations. The Aranat Baluarte is a source of inspiration for artists and performers who continue to create and evolve the tradition while remaining true to its roots.
