LOPEZ, QUEZON — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Quezon, through its Negosyo Center–Lopez, takes part in the development and promotion of Industry Clusters by promoting Food Safety Awareness by exploring the importance of raising awareness about food safety and highlighting the crucial role it plays in creating a healthier future by organizing “Enhancing Food Safety Awareness: Towards a Healthier Future” for Lopez business owners last June 23, 2023, held at Municipal Function Hall in Lopez, Quezon.

Ms. Rebecca Tiama, the Municipal Agriculture Officer, represented by Ms. May Ann Geruila, delivered a warm welcome address, expressing gratitude to all participants for their presence and emphasizing the importance of food safety in our daily lives. Her speech laid the foundation for the subsequent sessions, setting the tone for an engaging and enlightening seminar. Ms. Cindy Montalbo, the Business Permit and Licensing Officer-Designate, delivered an inspirational message, encouraging participants to actively promote food safety practices in their respective businesses and communities. Her motivational speech aimed to instill a sense of responsibility and drive among the attendees. The seminar received strong support from key individuals in the municipality. Coun. Alex Vergara, from the Municipal Council’s Trade Committee, delivered a message of support, emphasizing the council’s commitment to promoting safe and healthy trade practices. Within the program, the presence and expertise of the esteemed Ms. Charmaine Pasion, serving as the emcee, were instrumental in orchestrating a seamless and engaging experience for all participants.

The resource speaker, Mr. Avegel Arroyo, then took the stage, introduced by the host. Mr. Arroyo’s expertise in the field of food safety made him the ideal choice to deliver the seminar properly. He shared valuable insights, practical tips, and best practices for ensuring food safety at all stages of production, distribution, and consumption. The attendees actively engaged in the seminar, asking questions and seeking clarification.

An open forum session provided an opportunity for participants to seek further clarification and share their experiences and challenges related to food safety. Mr. Arroyo expertly addressed their queries, providing practical solutions and fostering a dynamic and interactive learning environment. In the closing message, delivered by Ma. Isabel C. Hirang, Business Counselor of Negosyo Center–Lopez, participants were reminded of the importance of implementing the principles of food safety in their businesses and daily lives. Hon. Rachel A. Ubana, Municipal Mayor, represented by Atty. Donald Segui, also expressed his support for the event, highlighting the municipality’s dedication to ensuring the well-being of its residents. Ms. Hirang expressed gratitude to all attendees and encouraged them to apply the knowledge acquired to create a safer and healthier future for their communities.

Overall, the seminar on enhancing food safety awareness proved to be a resounding success, effectively disseminating vital information and fostering a sense of responsibility among the participants.
