INDANG, CAVITE – The story of Daine 1 & 2 Farmers Association Inc. is a remarkable tale of growth, resilience, and community spirit. Founded in 2017 under the visionary leadership of Mr. Rodrigo N. Medrano, the association began with just 20 members. Alongside Mr. Medrano were dedicated officers including Vice President Noriel B. Bergonio, Secretary Nerisa B. Dela Cruz, Treasurer Natividad S. Cronico, PRO Juanito L. Bergonio, and Bookkeeper Edgardo S. Avilla, who shared a common goal: to uplift the lives of local farmers through collaboration and shared resources.

In 2019, a significant milestone was achieved when the association was officially registered with the Department of Labor and Employment. This marked the beginning of a more formal structure, enabling the group to access various forms of support and assistance. By 2021, the association further solidified its legitimacy by registering with the Securities and Exchange Commission and gaining accreditation as a recognized Farmers Cooperative and Association in their region.

That same year, 2021, proved to be transformative for the group. They began attending trainings and seminars under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP), where they learned to produce Tablea a traditional Filipino cacao product. With the support of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), led by Ms. Kimberly Quiacos, the association developed proper packaging for their Tablea, enhancing its marketability.

Their Tablea production, which ranges from 80-120 sweetened and 30-60 unsweetened units per month. Since January 2023, they have proudly showcased their products through the “Kadiwa ng Pangulo” trade fairs, gaining both visibility and customer loyalty. Priced at 65 pesos for sweetened and 85 pesos for unsweetened, their Tablea has been well-received in the market.

The association’s success has been bolstered by the support of various government agencies. The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) provided them with valuable training, seminars, and a dual drum composter, while the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) supplied essential equipment, including a tractor. The Department of Agriculture (DA) contributed an L300 vehicle, seeds, and fertilizers, further aiding their agricultural endeavors.

From humble beginnings in 2017 with just 20 members, Daine 1 & 2 Farmers Association Inc. has grown into a thriving organization of 180 members by 2024. Their journey is a testament to what can be achieved through collective effort, government support, and a relentless pursuit of progress. Their Tablea product is not just a source of income but a symbol of their shared success and commitment to improving their community.
