ILOILO CITY – The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB), in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry VI (DTI) and the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board VI (RCMB), organized a Productivity-based Incentives Scheme Learning Session to strengthen consumer welfare, boost productivity, and provide essential information on consumer rights and protection to 22 attending establishments on February 21, 2024 at Smallville21 Hotel, Iloilo City.
The learning session served as a platform for fruitful discussions, covering different topics essential for both businesses and consumers alike.
Among the key subjects delved into were Labor Management Committee Formation, Conflict Management, Productivity-Based Incentive Scheme, consumer complaints handling processes and pertinent laws such as the Consumer Act (RA 7394), Price Act (RA 7581), Price Tag Law (RA 71), Product Standards Law (RA 4109), No Shortchanging Act (RA 10909), and the Vape Law (RA 11900).
“Consumers must be vigilant in asserting their rights to protect themselves from unfair trade practices while businesses shall comply with the Fair-Trade Laws and adhere to ethical standards in their transactions,” emphasized DTI Region VI Consumer Protection Division Chief, Grace Benedicto.
The event not only served as an avenue for knowledge dissemination but also facilitated networking opportunities among participating establishments.
Moving forward, sustained efforts towards promoting consumer rights, enhancing productivity, and fostering a conducive business environment will be pivotal in propelling the region towards greater heights of prosperity and sustainability. ♦
