CEBU – Sixteen (16) dedicated Cebuano entrepreneurs from various parts of the province of Cebu proudly celebrated their graduation from the Kapatid Mentor ME (KMME) Program, marking a significant milestone in their business journeys and an inspiring chapter for Cebu’s thriving entrepreneurial landscape. The intimate yet impactful ceremony highlighted the resilience, creativity, and community spirit that define Cebu’s local businesses.
Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in collaboration with the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE), the KMME Program is designed to empower Cebu’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with essential skills and strategies to grow and sustain their businesses. The program included 12 modules covering critical topics like entrepreneurial mind-setting, product development, marketing, financial literacy, and business law—all tailored to Cebu’s unique market environment and guided by experienced mentors from the local business community.
Representing diverse industries—from Cebu’s celebrated food and beverage offerings to its creative wearables, home styles, and essential services—these 16 mentees gained not only technical knowledge but also the confidence and inspiration to thrive in Cebu’s dynamic market. Many graduates expressed gratitude for the mentorship they received, acknowledging the invaluable insights and connections that will help them steer their businesses forward.
DTI Region 7 Assistant Regional Director Esperanza T.L. Melgar commended the graduates, stating, “This graduation is not the end but a new beginning for these entrepreneurs. Armed with new tools, skills, and a network of supporters, they are now equipped to innovate and contribute to Cebu’s economic growth. We eagerly await the impact they will make by creating jobs and driving the local economy.”
A highlight of the event was the graduates’ inspiring presentations, where each entrepreneur shared their vision for applying new business strategies to enhance operations, expand market reach, and adopt sustainable practices. Through heartfelt testimonies, graduates like Ms. Chriselda Crisologo conveyed the transformative effect of the program: “This program not only improved my business skills but also connected me with mentors and fellow entrepreneurs who have become my support network. It gave me the push I needed to dream bigger.”
For these 16 Cebuano entrepreneurs, the KMME graduation represents a commitment to driving positive change within their communities. As they step forward, they are encouraged to remain active within the KMME network, develop innovative solutions, and inspire other MSMEs across Cebu to pursue growth and resilience.
Attended by DTI officials, PCE representatives, program mentors, and proud family members, the hybrid ceremony was both a celebration of individual growth and a testament to Cebu’s vibrant entrepreneurial spirit. Through programs like KMME, Cebuano entrepreneurs are better positioned than ever to uplift their communities and fuel the province’s economic progress.
