The Philippines’ total merchandise trade for January-April 2018 amounted to US$54.11 billion, an increase of 3.4% from US$52.34 billion recorded in January-April 2017.  Total exports declined by 6.2% to US$20.96 billion in January-April 2018 from US$22.34 billion in the same period last year.  On the other hand, total imports increased by 10.5% from US$30.00 billion in January-April 2017 to US$33.16 billion in January-April 2018.  The country’s balance of trade in goods registered US$12.20 billion deficit in January-April 2018 higher than the US$7.66 billion deficit during the same period in 2017.
