The Philippines’ total merchandise trade for January-May 2018 amounted to US$69.59 billion, an increase of 4.1% from US$66.83 billion recorded in January-May 2017.  Total exports declined by 5.0% to US$26.91 billion in January-May 2018 from US$28.33 billion in the same period last year.  On the other hand, total imports increased by 10.9% from US$38.49 billion in January-May 2017 to US$42.68 billion in January-May 2018.  The country’s balance of trade in goods registered US$15.77 billion deficit in January-May 2018 higher than the US$10.16 billion deficit during the same period in 2017.
